Pre-Operative Instructions for Dental Implant Surgery
Before you have anesthesia
History:
Any personal illness, weakness or known susceptibility must be reported,
also details of any drugs recently prescribed or being taken – especially
sleeping drugs, tranquilizers, cortisone preparations or alcohol.
Preparation:
Do not eat or drink anything 6 hours before the surgery. Do not eat heavy
food the evening before your operation. If you are a diabetic, please
disregard these instructions and follow those given to you by the doctor.
Please
wear loose, comfortable clothing to your appointment (short sleeve blouses
and shirts).
Post-anesthetic control:
It may be more convenient to attend your appointment alone, but arrangements
should be made for a responsible person to provide transportation for
you following your surgery.
At home:
On returning to your home, be sure and follow our directions regarding
diet, rest, and medications. More information will be provided at the
time of surgery.
Remember that it is normal to feel a little dizzy and a little sleepy
for several hours after your operation. Therefore, you should not drive,
sign
any important papers, or make any significant decisions for approximately
12 hours.
If you have any questions, please call the office.
